A friend of mine named Bob shared with me one day that he had faithfully tithed out of his personal paycheck that came from his business for many years, but he had never considered giving out of his business, until one day, he attended a Business By the Book seminar, and during that day, he learned some things, and he heard some things that really surprised him that he didn’t understand, that God owned his business as well.

That day, he made a commitment and a decision that he needed to begin tithing out of his company profits as well as his personal paycheck.

Psalm 24:1 teaches us, “The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.” You see, God owns everything, including our businesses. Many people forget and compartmentalize that part of their life, and they don’t give to the Kingdom out of how God blesses them. God desires us to give from the first fruits of the profits that we make in a business as well as personally.

Now, many people ask how do you go about doing that, and it’s different for different entities. A sole proprietor, they may just write a check personally, because it’s going to wind up in the same place on the tax return. A subchapter S corporation, they can give either personally or corporately and it’s going to wind up on the same line on the tax return, but a C corporation, they actually need to give out of the corporation, although it’s limited to only 10 percent of their net profit can be given and written off as a tax deduction.

Many different ways to give out of a company, but the main thing is, and the main point to remember is, it is all God’s, and He desires us to give out of our first fruits.
