SUMMARY:Luncheon with Tractor Supply's Jim Wright
DESCRIPTION:Jim Wright\, Executive Chairman of the Board and CEO of Tractor Supply\, retired\, will share his amazing story of an unconventional culture that grew Tractor Supply to become the largest operator of rural lifestyle retail stores in the U.S\, with more than 1700 Tractor Supply stores operating today in 49 states. \nDuring his tenure\, he instilled a mission and values that fostered the company’s growth\, even through the recession of 2008. At that time\, Jim Wright made a pledge to all Tractor Supply team members: “If you are with us now and continue to contribute\, you will have a job with us at the end of the recession or I will have failed in my job.” The effect was powerful. In 2008 and 2009\, Tractor Supply added 165 stores\, created over 1\,600 jobs and achieved record sales and earnings both years. \nAccording to Mr. Wright\, “The culture of a company is like the sand on a beach\, wind and water are always eroding it. It’s the job of leadership to replenish the culture one grain at a time\, all the time.” \nThat attitude is apparent in the tools that Wright used to instill the culture. He required all employees to carry a card listing 10 corporate values at all times. First on the list?  Ethics: “Do the right thing and always encourage others to do the right\, honest and ethical thing.” The other values? Respect\, balance\, winning attitude\, communication\, development\, teamwork\, change\, initiative\, accountability. The back of the card enumerated the elements of Tractor Supply’s mission: “To work hard\, have fun and make money by providing legendary service and great products at everyday low prices.”  These same values and mission remain with the company today.  \nJoin us on June 6th to hear Jim’s highly engaging story of growing an “unconventional business” culture! \nDownload the event flyer. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Luncheon with Tad Edwards\, Chairman and CEO of Benjamin F. Edwards & Co.
DESCRIPTION:You won’t want to miss hearing from Tad Edwards\, a 39-year veteran of the financial services industry\, as he reveals his unconventional business story of how\, through faith and principled leadership\, his company overcame a challenging season in which long-time corporate names in the financial industry were disappearing or being absorbed by banks. \nToday\, Mr. Edwards is the Chairman\, Chief Executive Officer and President of Benjamin F. Edwards & Co which was founded at the height of this financial crisis in 2008. While many viewed the events during this time with fear\, Tad saw a competitive opportunity. He recognized in the midst of the turmoil\, the industry was losing sight of what mattered most— putting their clients’ interests first and building a great culture based on trust\, integrity and respect. \nTo fill this void\, Tad envisioned a private\, entrepreneurial firm\, dedicated to providing informed investment advice\, in a high-touch\, service-oriented atmosphere\, focused on clients and helping them meet their financial goals. He named the firm for his father\, Benjamin F. Edwards. \nBefore founding Benjamin F. Edwards & Co.\, Tad worked his way up the corporate ladder at A.G. Edwards\, a firm founded by his great-great-grandfather. He started out in the company’s Personnel Department in 1977 and later worked with clients as an advisor and eventually a branch manager. After about 20-years at the firm\, Tad moved to the firm’s corporate headquarters as a regional manager\, and later as the director of the Sales and Marketing division. As division director\, he assumed responsibility for a number of core functions including the fixed income and NASDAQ trading desks; equity research; private client services; investment advisory programs and services; syndicate; and corporate communications. \nHe also served on the boards of directors for A.G. Edwards\, Inc.\, and its brokerage subsidiary\, A.G. Edwards & Sons\, Inc. In 1998\, he was named vice chairman of the holding company board and appointed president of the brokerage in 2001. He was also a member of the firm’s executive committee. In 2002\, he returned to branch management and remained on the brokerage board. \nA graduate of Trinity University in Chicago\, Tad also completed the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of Business (1983)\, the Graduate Management Program at Washington University (1983)\, and the Executive Leadership Development Program at the Harvard Business School (2011). \nHe is married with two children and enjoys reading and golf. \nDowload the event flyer. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Luncheon with Former Mob Boss\, Michael Franzese
DESCRIPTION:Michael Franzese grew up as the son of the notorious Underboss of New York’s violent and feared Colombo crime family. At his most affluent\, he generated an estimated $5 to $8 million per week from legal and illegal businesses. It was a life filled with power\, luxury…and deadly violence. \nIn 1986\, mafia boss\, Michael Franzese was named by Vanity Fair as one of the biggest money earners the mob had seen since Al Capone. At the age of 35\, Fortune Magazine listed him as number 18 on its list of the “Fifty Most Wealthy and Powerful Mafia Bosses\,” just 5 behind John Gotti. Avoiding traditional mob domains\, Michael masterminded brilliant scams on the edge of the legitimate business world. From auto dealerships and union kickbacks\, to financial services and the sports and entertainment industries\, to a multi-billion dollar gasoline tax scheme\, he earned millions in cash every week at his peak. Not surprisingly\, Michael quickly became the target of Manhattan’s famed federal prosecutor\, Rudy Guiliani. After promising Michael 100 years behind bars after indicting him on racketeering charges\, Rudy only came up empty handed. Escaping four more indictments\, it seemed Michael Franzese truly was invincible. \nWhile producing “Knights of the City\,” a break dance movie filmed in Florida\, Michael met a beautiful dancer from Anaheim\, California\, named Camille Garcia\, whose innocent beauty and faith turned his world upside down. After falling in love and eventually marrying Cammy\, Michael took the rap on racketeering charges. Michael pled guilty\, accepted a 10 year prison sentence and vowed to do the unthinkable – walk away from the mob. Nobody of his rank had ever just walked away – and lived. Until now. \nMichael Franzese is the only high ranking official of a major crime family to ever walk away\, without protective custodies\, and survive. \nDetermined to use the compelling experiences of his former life for the benefit of corporate executives\, professional and student athletes\, at-risk youth\, church audiences\, and for anyone seeking the inspiration to beat the odds and make positive changes in their lives\, he has become a highly regarded motivator and a source of invaluable information. Franzese candidly describes how he survived dozens of grand jury appearances\, 5 major racketeering indictments\, 5 criminal trials\, 7 years in prison and a Mafia death sentence. He tells how he engaged bankers\, corporate executives\, union officials and professional and student athletes in a wide variety of financial scams. His open and honest presentations are fresh and unique. Audiences are captivated by stories of his personal experiences in organized crime and genuinely affected by his powerful anti-crime messages and eye opening revelations. \nIn his autobiography\, Blood Covenant\, Michael reveals answers to many mysteries surrounding his incredible journey. Walk the streets with him to find out how he has done what no one else has managed to do. \nHis latest book\, I’ll Make You An Offer You Can’t Refuse\, was recently released by Thomas Nelson\, and contains insider business tips from the former mob boss. \n\n\n\n\nDownload the event Flyer

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT Luncheon with VeggieTales Creator\, Phil Vischer
DESCRIPTION:Phil Vischer made his first animated film when he was nine years old; by the age of fourteen\, he was convinced he would be a filmmaker when he grew up. After a brief stint at a Bible college\, Phil struck out on his own\, looking for a way to integrate his faith with his filmmaking. \nThis quest led him to a tomato and a cucumber. The year was 1991\, and Phil was a newly married 25 year-old with no financial backing and no idea how his vegetables would ever see the light of day. \nToday\, almost 50 million VeggieTales videos have been purchased and Phil’s faith- filled stories can be found in one-third of all American homes with young children. Although Phil’s original company\, Big Idea Productions\, collapsed in bankruptcy in 2003\, Phil continues his creative involvement with VeggieTales through its current owner. \nPhil captured the breathtaking rise – and heartbreaking fall – of Big Idea Productions in the book Me\, Myself & Bob\, which was published by Thomas Nelson. He is also the author of the popular children’s books Sidney and Norman and 47 Beavers on the Big Blue Sea. \nPhil’s latest project is a 13-DVD series called Buck Denver Asks What’s in the Bible? that will take families all the way through the Bible – Genesis to Revelation. He also started JellyTelly\, an interactive\, online “mini-network” for children. \nPhil lives with his wife Lisa and their three kids in Wheaton\, IL. \nDownload the event flyer

SUMMARY:Unconventional Business Luncheon with Jim Daly
DESCRIPTION:Jim Daly is president of Focus on the Family and host of the daily broadcast\, heard by more than 6.3 million listeners a week on more than 1\,000 radio stations across the U.S. The show was honored as 2012 Program of the Year by the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB).\nDaly’s personal journey from orphan to head of an international Christian organization dedicated to helping families thrive is a powerful story. Abandoned by his alcoholic father at age 5\, he lost his mother to cancer four years later – a wound deepened when his grieving stepfather emptied the family home and left Daly\, the youngest of five children\, and his siblings to fend for themselves after their mother’s funeral. \nSeveral tough years followed\, including time in foster care\, before Daly became a Christian in high school and found meaning\, purpose and a sense of belonging. \n“I am living proof\,” he wrote in his 2007 autobiography\, “Finding Home\,” “that no matter how torn up the road has already been\, or how pothole-infested it may look ahead\, nothing – nothing – is impossible for God.” \nDaly was named president of Focus on the Family in 2005 after 16 years with the ministry. Under his leadership\, the organization has taken on a major role nationally in encouraging and helping facilitate foster-care adoptions\, earning recognition from the White House and Congress for its efforts. The ministry also has reinvigorated its traditional focus on helping couples build strong marriages and raise healthy\, resilient kids. In just the last 12 months\, with the help of Focus on the Family\, research indicates that 770\,000 couples have built stronger marriages and 870\,000 moms and dads built stronger\, healthier and more God-honoring families. \nDaly started his career at Focus in 1989 as an assistant to the president\, fostering relationships with the ministry’s supporters. He was appointed international field director for Asia\, Africa and Australia in 1992\, and in 1997 was promoted to vice president of the International Division. In 2004\, Daly was appointed chief operating officer\, the role he held until he was handpicked by Focus on the Family founder Dr. James Dobson to be the group’s president. \nDaly graduated from California State University\, San Bernardino\, in 1984 with a B.S. in Business Administration. During his senior year\, he attended Waseda University in Tokyo\, and after graduating worked for a Fortune 500 company. In 1997\, he completed his MBA in International Business at Regis University in Denver. In 2009\, he received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Colorado Christian University in Denver.\nDaly has received the 2008 World Children’s Center Humanitarian Award\, the 2009 Children’s Hunger Fund Children’s Champion Award\, and the 2010 HomeWord Family Ministry Award. He has appeared on such television programs as “Fox & Friends\,” “America Live with Megyn Kelly\,” “ABC World News Tonight” and PBS’ “Religion & Ethics”; and been featured in Time\, The Wall Street Journal\, The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, USA Today and Newsweek\, which named him one of the Top 10 next-generation evangelical leaders of influence. He was also the subject of a July 2011 cover story in Christianity Today. \nDaly is an author whose book\, “ReFOCUS: Living a Life That Reflects God’s Heart\,” explores how to engage the culture for Christ in a compassionate and winsome way. In 2014\, he wrote “The Good Dad\,” which looks at how dads can become better fathers regardless of their background or the parenting mistakes they’ve made. In his latest book\, “Marriage Done Right: One Man\, One Woman\,” Daly examines God’s purposes for marriage\, including the unique benefits that a mom and a dad bring to the partnership of raising children. \nDaly has been married to his wife\, Jean\, since 1986. They have two sons and are currently parenting two children in foster care. They reside in Colorado Springs\, Colorado. \nHe will inspire and provide practical wisdom on how to “Honor Your Family In Your Work” \nDownload the Event Flyer
